Among Trees
This work is an examination of our proximity to the natural world and the relationship we have to the wild. It depicts spaces where the human world encounters ostensibly wild places and looks at the strangeness created by the temporary but violent aural and visual disturbances that human systems generate. The impossibility of the images in nature creates a metaphor for the massive separation of modern civilisation from our natural environment; a demonstration, if one were needed; of how different and un-natural the human world has become. They also serve as a reminder that mankind, whilst perhaps an aberration, is still part of and dependent on the natural world.
